Both educators advanced through Post and District judging and have been recognized at the Department (State) level for their outstanding commitment to citizenship, patriotism, and student leadership.

We want to also mention and congratulate our 2025-2026 District Teacher of the Year for Grades 7–8: Kevin Murphy from Post 2059.

📚 Teacher of the Year Program Overview

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) proudly recognizes outstanding teachers in the following categories:

  • Elementary School (K–5)
  • Junior High School (6–8)
  • High School (9–12)

Honorees demonstrate excellence in teaching citizenship, patriotism, and America’s history, traditions, and institutions. Consideration is given to the impact of their teaching on both students and the community.


✍️ Who Can Submit a Nomination

Nominations may be submitted by fellow teachers, supervisors, or any interested individual. Self-nominations are allowed.

Submissions must include a completed VFW Teacher Nomination Form and a 350-word (or less) narrative describing the teacher’s innovation, dedication, and instruc
