As State winners, they now advance to the National VFW Teacher of the Year selection, where educators from across the country are considered for national recognition Texas VFW High School Teacher of the Year Post 4676 Texas VFW Elementary Teacher of the Year Post 7108 Both educators advanced through Post and District judging and have been recognized at the
Department (State) level for their outstanding commitment to citizenship,
patriotism, and student leadership. We want to also mention and congratulate our 2025-2026 District Teacher of the Year for Grades 7–8: Kevin Murphy from Post 2059. Thank you for shaping future leaders and representing the State of Texas with excellence!
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) proudly recognizes outstanding teachers in the following categories:
Honorees demonstrate excellence in teaching citizenship, patriotism, and America’s history,
traditions, and institutions. Consideration is given to the impact of their teaching on both
students and the community.
Nominations may be submitted by fellow teachers, supervisors, or any interested individual.

350-word (or less) narrative describing the teacher’s innovation, dedication,
